That hen from the last post died

I went down there to the chicken coop and she had died.

I am not sure what is getting them or if they are just dying but she was the fourth chicken to die this past month.

I hope the rest of my chickens live.

So I have a Sick Hen

That's right she's sick

Or something

To be honest I am not really sure whats wrong with her.

I have had several chickens die recently but I am not sure why.

Most of them just up and die but this time I got there in time to know something was wrong before she died.

If anybody has any Ideas please let me know.

Here is a video of her.

The turkeys and chicks made it through the night so that's good.

So far I've had 3 chickens die in just this past month. If she dies it will be 4.

Except that one that got eaten when it was little last summer all of the chickens have been fine up until now.

Well, there is always something to be happy about and this time it's turkeys.

I am really glad that they all survived through the night.

I was a little worried because they were in shipping for two days but they are all fine.

Please help me with this hen if you have any ideas,

Backyard Chickens

http://www.backyardchickens.com/

This is one of the most useful chicken sites that I have found so far.

Even if it's not chickens (Turkey, Quail, Pheasant, Pea, Pigeon, Ducks, Geese, Guinea, Ostrich, Emu, Swans, Doves, Rheas, Partridge, Finches, Canaries, Cockatiels, Parrots, etc...

In fact sometimes there is horse, dog, cattle, sheep, goat, pig, and cat stuff on there too.

Now, just because there is a wide variety doesn't mean that they don't go into detail,

If you don't have chickens yet but are planning on getting some BYC has all the inspiration and helpful information you need.

If you are just starting out you can find coop ideas, chicken breeds, basic chicken info, and all kinds of reviews and recommendations.

On the other hand if you are like me and you have a coop and chickens but you're not sure what to do if they get sick or you want to change to free range there is all kinds of great information on there for you.

However if you are past all of this and have learned a lot from your past experiences you can join and share your knowledge to help us beginners.

If you are in any one of these four stages with any of the fowl that I mentioned above this is a very useful sit to be at.

So, if you have chickens or any other fowl and have a question, there is probably a few people on this site who had the same question and lots of people probably answered it.

At Backyard Chickens you have the knowlege of about 360,000 people at your fingertips.

Just saying

This site has helped me with so much and I want other people who need help with chickens to be able to learn from these people too.

Oh and another cool thing that they have is these emojis:

The Miracle of Life

When you think about it, the fact that something could breath, see, think, and walk is amazing.

In fact, God made all of these animals and people not just that once at the beginning of time but he made them so that ,with his help, they would reproduce and fill the entire earth and keep at least a few of their species alive all the way up to now.

I only have one thing to say about this:

God is Amazing

With that said, I have several new animals coming and I had one animal die:

Calves           (Blue should have her calf soon)
Turkeys         (Ten Bourbon Reds coming in a few days)
Quail             (Hopefully several Coturnix quail hatching any day now)
Chickens       (Five Bantam Cochin Buff Orpingtons coming in a few days)
MacGyver     (died the other day)

I went into the chicken coop and MacGyver was died.

There was no blood but I still think Murdoc killed him.

I am going to give him to my uncle who does fly tying. He should be able to get several good feathers for his business.

Also, we mowed the grass for the first time this spring and now it's raining. :)

Some people would have put a frowning face there but I have so many things that God has given me to be happy about that just a simple rain shouldn't make me feel sad.

Hey wait, did I just type simple?

Rain is very complex with the whole evaporating thing and then staying up in the air all the way across the country. It even makes the grass grow, which in and of itself is amazing.

God put so many things in this world for us to enjoy so if you are feeling down just remember:

You can find Happiness Through Thankfulness

The hens have been picked on a lot and lots of their feathers are missing.

They will soon be happy healthy birds though.

Lights out!

Yes, that's right, our electric went out.

It started out warm and sunny but then by dark there were high winds and lots of snow.

Laura and I were going to help a friend of ours shear sheep the next day but when we got part way down the driveway a tree had fallen down. It had fallen across our driveway and knocked down the electric lines. We drove across the field to granddad's and got out anyway. Papa later cut out part of it and moved that part with the loader so that we could get out but there is still a lot of work to be done.

We were not out very long, maybe 24 hours, before the electric crew came out and put up the wire again.

Our chicks, nine of which are still alive, spent most of the time in front of the wood stove.

All this was Saturday night to Sunday night. Today is Tuesday and most of the snow is gone.

Let's hope it stays that way for a while.

Oh, and one last thing. A dog got into my chicken tractor and got my rabbit and Laura's rabbit had babies this morning. I will try to post pics soon. OK, this time I actually am done...
